Playwright, novelist and painter

I am an Australian of Greek background, born in Sydney in 1961. I grew up in the inner west and went to the University of Sydney where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Social Anthropology. My focus areas were immigration and fine arts, and my Honours dissertation was on the impact of post-war emigration on Greece. While at the University, I was actively involved with the Sydney University Dramatic Society (SUDS), and in 1982, my play The Small Room Beyond the Village won the Playwright Competition.  

I am a produced playwright and graduate of the NIDA Playwrights Studio. In 1989 I became the founding member of Take Away Theatre,  a Sydney-based theatre company. My plays, Baraki,  Night Journeys,  and  A Lifetime of Summers are bilingual, written in Greek and English. The company was the recipient of Australia Council funding and was recognised as one of Sydney’s leading multicultural theatre companies. 

In 1991 I graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Communications from the University of Technology with majors in scriptwriting and film production.  I have worked as a Communication specialist in many NSW government departments, including twelve years at NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption, starting in public relations and then moving into the world of corruption prevention. When I am not writing, I draw, paint, read and play the piano. I am also a keen traveller, and I am supported by my loving partner and two daughters. 

In 2020, I received an Invited Residency at Varuna, Katoomba, where I completed the first draft of my novel PARADISOS. In 2023, PARADISOS was a finalist in the Eyelands Book Awards, Unpublished Novel category.

I currently co-reside in Bondi Junction and the Blue Mountains, where in the mountains, I have a studio space and paint.
